MALI HARRIES DIRECTOR

Mali Harries is an actor/director based in Cardiff. With 30 years on screen experience in both English and the Welsh language.

A woman with glasses and a colorful sweater stands in a grassy field with a camera covered by a rain cover, during daytime with cloudy skies, with green hills and a small town in the background.

MALI HARRIES

Starting out as a director approaching my fifties might not be the wisest of career moves, but directing is something I find comes naturally to me. I love actors and after 30 years of being one I know exactly what  the actors are going through, their process and thoughts, so stepping into directing has been a joy for me.

Being on set feels like home.

I directed a Shortfilm for It’s my shout, SMALL CHANGE that was nominated for a Celtic media award.

My TV credits include HAFIACH (S4C) for Vox Pictures.

Pobol y Cwm (BBC Studios) for S4C

Parc Glan Gwil (S4C) for Cynhyrchiadau Mojo.

As double BAFTA CYMRU award winner for Best Actress (Hinterland and The Indian Doctor)  I hope to grow my directing career in a similar direction.

Born in Cardiff and having grown up in Aberdare and the Rumney Valley, I returned to Cardiff aged 9 where I lived until I was 18.

I attended The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School 1994-1997 and moving to London I embarked on a film, TV, stage and radio career as an actress.

HAFIACH.

Teen crime Thriller for Vox Pictures filmed on location in Rhyl. Currently streaming on S4C Clic & BBCiPlayer
